Participation Terms — Our Plants, Our Stories
The Zarits Community
Thank you for contributing to "Our Plants, Our Stories". This initiative aims to celebrate the plants grown by our community, share the experiences of plant enthusiasts, and inspire fellow plant lovers.
By submitting photos through our form, you agree to the following participation terms.
1. Who can participate?
Participation is free, with no purchase necessary, and open to anyone aged 18 or older, regardless of their country of residence.
You may submit a plant purchased from Zarits or elsewhere, provided it belongs to the plant family being featured at the time of submission.
You must be the creator of the submitted photos or hold the necessary rights to authorize Zarits to use them.
Important: Only Canadian residents are eligible to receive a CAD $10 Zarits gift card if their plant variety is selected.
Participants residing outside Canada may still take part and have their photos or stories featured on Zarits.com, our blog, or our social media channels. However, they are not eligible to receive a gift card.
2. Which plants can be submitted?
Each week, Zarits may feature a different plant family.
We are looking for plants that are sufficiently developed to showcase their shape, foliage, colours, and the characteristics of their variety.
Cuttings and very young plants generally do not meet our selection criteria. However, a plant does not need to be exceptionally large or fully mature to be eligible.
3. How can I participate?
To submit your plant, you must complete the participation form available on Zarits.com.
You may submit up to 2 photos per plant, along with the corresponding variety name and the requested information.
You may submit several different plant varieties by completing a separate form for each variety.
Photos must be original, clear, and accurately represent the plant. Images taken from the internet, belonging to another person without permission, or generated using artificial intelligence are not accepted.
Zarits reserves the right to exclude incomplete or non-compliant submissions, including those that do not meet these participation terms.
4. How are photos selected?
Photos are selected by the Zarits team based on several criteria, including:
- The plant's development and the characteristics of its variety.
- Photo quality, sharpness, and lighting.
- Framing and composition.
- The photo's ability to help other plant enthusiasts discover the potential of that variety.
This is not a random draw.
Participation does not guarantee that a photo will be selected, that a reward will be received, or that any content will be published on Zarits' platforms.
Zarits may select multiple participants and plant varieties, or choose not to select any photos if submissions do not meet the required criteria.
5. What is the reward?
For each selected plant variety, an eligible Canadian resident will receive a CAD $10 Zarits gift card.
Only one gift card is awarded per selected variety per participant, even if multiple photos of that variety are submitted or selected.
If several different varieties submitted by the same participant are selected, the participant may receive one gift card for each selected variety.
Gift cards are redeemable in accordance with Zarits' standard gift card terms and conditions. They cannot be exchanged for cash.
Simply participating does not entitle anyone to a gift card. Only selected varieties submitted by participants who meet the reward eligibility requirements qualify for a CAD $10 gift card.
Participants residing outside Canada are not eligible for this reward, even if their photos are selected.
6. When will selected participants be notified?
Participants whose photos are selected will be contacted by email within 3 weeks of their submission, using the email address provided in the form.
They will be informed of their plant's selection and, if eligible for the reward, how their gift card will be provided.
Participants who are not selected may not receive an individual notification.
Participants whose stories are considered for our blog series may be contacted separately at a later date.
7. Where might selected photos appear?
Selected photos may be used to:
- Illustrate product listings and other pages on Zarits.com.
- Feature plants from our community on Zarits' social media channels.
- Accompany newsletters and other promotional communications from Zarits.
- Illustrate editorial content related to our community initiative.
Photo selection does not guarantee immediate or permanent publication on any of these platforms.
8. What about the "Our Plants, Our Stories" blog series?
Each month, Zarits aims to highlight selected plant stories and members of our community.
Participants may share an anecdote, an experience, or their plant's story through the participation form.
Having a photo selected does not guarantee that the participant's story will be published on our blog or social media channels.
If we would like to feature your personal story in an article or testimonial, we will contact you to gather additional information and obtain your consent before publication.
Editorial features are separate from photo selection and do not automatically qualify participants for an additional gift card.
9. What rights do you grant Zarits over your photos?
By participating, you confirm that you are the creator of the submitted photos or hold the necessary rights to authorize their use.
You grant Zarits a non-exclusive authorization, without additional compensation beyond any applicable reward, to reproduce, publish, display, crop, and adapt selected photos for its communication activities on the platforms described in these participation terms.
You retain ownership of your photos. This authorization does not transfer your copyright to Zarits.
You may contact Zarits to request the removal of your photos from future publications or digital platforms under its control. Requests will be reviewed and handled within a reasonable timeframe, subject to applicable obligations and any content already distributed through platforms no longer under Zarits' control.
10. Can Zarits edit submitted photos?
Zarits may make minor adjustments to align images with its visual identity, including cropping and changes to brightness, contrast, colour balance, or saturation.
These adjustments must not misrepresent the plant's actual appearance or misleadingly alter the characteristics of its variety.
Zarits may also add a visual credit to selected photos to identify them as community contributions, in accordance with the preferences indicated in the participation form.
11. How will your name or social media account be displayed?
Each selected photo published by Zarits will include a visual credit directly on the image to distinguish contributions from our community.
When submitting your entry, you may choose one of the following credit options:
- Your first name and last initial.
- Your Instagram or Facebook @handle.
- An anonymous avatar, without displaying your identity.
Zarits will respect the credit preference selected in the participation form. If you choose to remain anonymous, Zarits will not add identifying information to the visual credit or the description of your contribution.
For stories and testimonials published as part of the monthly "Our Plants, Our Stories" series, the details of how your identity will be presented will be confirmed with you before publication.
12. Protection of your personal information
Information collected through the form is used to manage participation, review submissions, contact selected participants, provide rewards, and, according to the preferences indicated, attribute photo credits.
Subscribing to Zarits' marketing communications is optional and separate from participation in this initiative.

13. Changes to the initiative
Zarits reserves the right to adjust the plant families being featured, participation periods, and the operational details of the initiative.
Any significant changes will be communicated on the relevant pages of Zarits.com. The terms applicable to an already submitted entry will not be changed retroactively to the participant's disadvantage.
