Octobre rose chez Zarits 💗
For Pink October, I wanted Zarits to contribute, in our own way, to a cause that is especially close to my heart.
Like so many people, I have personally lost loved ones to cancer. It is a disease that affects far more than the person receiving the diagnosis: it also deeply impacts families, friends, and everyone supporting someone through this journey.
For me, it felt natural to use the month of October as an opportunity for Zarits to make a small, meaningful contribution. Nothing complicated or grand: simply a way to take part, raise awareness within our community, and support an organization that works every day alongside people affected by breast cancer.
That is how our Pink October initiative came to life. 🎀
🎀 What is Pink October?
Pink October is an annual breast cancer awareness campaign that takes place throughout the month of October.
The campaign is an opportunity to highlight the importance of awareness and screening, while also shining a light on those affected by breast cancer, their loved ones, the healthcare professionals who support them, and the work being done in research and support services.
A few statistics
Breast cancer is unfortunately a reality for many families, and these numbers help show just how widespread the disease is:
- 1 in 8 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer during her lifetime;
- 1 in 31 women will die from it;
- it is the most common cancer among women and the 2nd leading cause of cancer death among women.
But behind these statistics are women, loved ones, personal journeys, treatments, victories, and sometimes losses.
Thankfully, through the ongoing work of researchers, healthcare professionals, organizations, and everyone who supports this cause, science continues to move forward and care continues to evolve.
The importance of taking charge of your breast health
Pink October is also an opportunity to remind ourselves of the importance of paying attention to breast health. The Quebec Breast Cancer Foundation highlights several complementary awareness and screening practices:
- Breast observation, to become familiar with your breasts and make it easier to notice any unusual changes;
- a clinical breast exam with a healthcare professional;
- mammography, depending on age, risk factors, and the recommendations that apply to each person.
Pink October is a time to talk about breast cancer more openly, show our support, and each do our part through small gestures that can help make a difference.
At Zarits, we chose to contribute through a product we already love and that is part of our world: our wavy planter.
💗 A pink planter for a beautiful cause
For the month of October, our wavy planter is available in a beautiful shade of pink and has been given a very special name: La Solidaire.
For every La Solidaire pink planter sold, $2 will be donated to the Quebec Breast Cancer Foundation.
I loved the idea of creating something beautiful, useful, and meaningful all at once. A planter that showcases your plant while also representing a small gesture of solidarity with everyone who has been touched by breast cancer, directly or indirectly.

🎁 A little pink plant stake for the month of October
To accompany this initiative, we also created a small pink plant stake in the shape of a leafy branch.
Throughout the month of October, a pink plant stake is offered with your order, under certain conditions*.
It is a simple little gesture, but I thought it was a lovely way to carry the initiative into your plants and your homes.
